Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail Launches New Sip & Stay by the Bay Campaign
Experience more than wine tasting on the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail. Turn your tasting trip into a weekend escape along the Chesapeake Bay! In addition to discovering unique wineries and cideries, visitors to the Trail can plan a multi-day adventure exploring quaint waterfront towns, pairing visits with local inns, boutique hotels, and charming accommodations.
Located in Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay wine region, which encompasses the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula of Virginia, Trail member wineries are situated on or very near the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries: the Potomac, Rappahannock and Yeocomico Rivers; and other waterways. To inspire visitors to explore all the Trail—and the greater Northern Neck National Heritage Area—has to offer, the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail has launched a new campaign, “Sip & Stay by the Bay”. A dedicated landing page on the Trail’s website showcases new creative promoting the campaign, such as a highlight reel, fresh images from Wine Trail member sites, and a campaign logo. Visitors can also find links to relevant pages on the Trail’s website that will make it easy to plan a Chesapeake Bay vacation.
For example, visit the Itineraries page on the Trail website to find attractions, transportation and lodging near Trail wineries. Select lodging is listed on the site, including the Manor House at Ditchley Cider Works, a bed and breakfast and private cottages at The Dog and Oyster, and the Cabernet Cottage tiny container house at Monroe Bay Winery. Several Trail wineries are members of Harvest Host, offering campsites for tent camping and RV parking. Nearby coastal inns and bed and breakfasts are also included.
Click through to the Events page to search for Trail-wide signature events, including the Trail’s popular Oyster Crawls in April and November, and the newest event, the Crab Crawl, whose inaugural event is July 2026.
Detailed information about the Trail its members, local wines, and much more is found on the “Trail Talk” blog. Learn about specialty wines produced by Trail members, how to cook with wine, the history of wine and oysters in Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay wine country, and activities for everyone—even non-drinkers!
Sign up for the Trail’s monthly e-newsletter for the latest news on the Trail, including additional co-marketing and partnership initiatives that will be announced throughout the campaign. Follow and interact with the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail’s social media on Facebook and Instagram and watch the latest videos on YouTube.
The Sip & Stay by the Bay campaign is funded, in part, by a grant from Virginia Tourism Corporation’s (VTC) Marketing Leverage Program. VTC grant programs are designed to highlight Virginia’s rich cultural and historical legacy, spur economic activity and overnight travel across the Commonwealth, and promote Virginia as a vibrant destination with robust visitor experiences.
